How to Grow Parsley from Seed? Ease of Germination: Easy. Start your parsley when you start your outdoor garden plants (mid/end of May for us). Sow seeds just below the soil surface, keep soil moist until seedlings emerge. Parsley can be slow to germinate (up to 2 weeks). It helps to soak seeds overnight in water, then drain and plant. If growing in a container, pick a deep one as parsley has a deep root system. You can also start indoors 4-6 weeks before the last frost.
