42 Days Tomato is claimed by many seedsavers to be the earliest tomato you can grow!
It is easy to grow and compact in size, perfect for smaller gardens and containers (a 5 gallon pot will do fine). It has very good flavour, a balance of sweet and tangy. Its lovely red fruits have a little pip on the end. The origins of 42 Days are a mystery, but some seedsavers suggest it comes from Mexico. Which you might not expect for such an early tomato, but if it is an ancient landrace its diverse genetics might be kicking in to adapt to a shorter growing season.
How to Plant: Start seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before the last frost. Plant seed 5mm (¼ inch) deep. Keep moist. When true leaves appear, transplant to a larger container if needed. Transplant outside after the danger of frost has passed/later spring.
