Bugtussle Buttermilk Wonder is a beautiful heirloom tomato from Bugtussle, Kentucky that does very well in short season gardens.
It’s fruits are a stunning cream colour — and have a sweet, rich flavour. This is the kind of tomato that you would never be able to buy in the grocery store. You have to grow it yourself!
The plants are a robust 3ft tall and easy to manage. The medium size beefsteaks are ready mid-season.
Forgotten Heirlooms (USA), our original seed source, reports it is a community saved tomato of German origins, pre-1900. Their seeds originally came from the remarkable seed collection of Kris Hubbard of Wild Wood Farms, Kentucky.
How to Plant: Start seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before the last frost. Plant seed 5mm (¼ inch) deep. Keep moist. When true leaves appear, transplant to a larger container if needed. Transplant outside after the danger of frost has passed/later spring.
