Indigo Cherry Drops is a superb Anthocyanin-rich cherry tomato. It has good balanced sweet taste with a bit of tang, and makes a great tomato for snacking from the vine or throwing in a salad. It is a striking deep blue when unripe; and when ripe, it has dark red bottoms splashed with black/blue shoulders. Indigo Cherry Drops is early, hardy and highly productive.
A bit of history:
Indigo Cherry Drops is an improvement on Indigo Rose, an earlier Anthocyanin tomato from the Anthocyanin collection bred by Dr. Jim Meyers at Oregon State University. The source of the blue colour (Anthocyanin) in Indigo Cherry Drops are wild tomatoes from the Galapagos Islands and Chile. The original crosses made at Oregon State University are the source for over 50 other Anthocyanin tomatoes.
How to Plant: Start seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before the last frost. Plant seed 5mm (¼ inch) deep. Keep moist. When true leaves appear, transplant to a larger container if needed. Transplant outside after the danger of frost has passed/later spring.
