Klondike is a stunning, deep orange beefsteak tomato. The short plants are crazy productive and early. This plant is loaded with fruits that range in size from 180g to 300g (6oz to 10oz). The small plant (about 1 foot high, 2 feet wide) only needs a short stake. Or you can just let them sprawl on the ground. Klondike is very easy to maintain.
Taste-wise Klondike has good mild sweetness and excellent firm/meaty texture.
Klondike is a masterpiece from Ukraine. It was developed at the stellar Institute of Vegetable and Melon Growing of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences (NAAS) of Ukraine. The NAAS catalog describes Klondike as being resistant to major diseases and having an ‘increased’ content of beta-carotene (up to 1.5mg/100g).
How to Plant: Start seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before the last frost. Plant seed 5mm (¼ inch) deep. Keep moist. When true leaves appear, transplant to a larger container if needed. Transplant outside after the danger of frost has passed/later spring.
