Type: Ancient Landrace. Red Cherry Tomato (7-10 gm). Semi-Determinant. Honduras Wild-Type

20 seeds (or more)

Availability: In stock

A prolific, low-maintenance cherry tomato with excellent taste, a great blend of sweet and tart. This superb tomato was found growing wild along a road near the town of Puerto Cortes, Honduras when it was collected by the USDA (United States Department of Agriculture) in 1976. Our seedstock comes from the seedsavers at the Experimental Farm Network in New Jersey who requested this variety from the USDA.

Plant Characteristics: Puerto Cortes has medium to large cherry tomatoes on semi-determinate vines that get to be about 1 foot high and about 2 feet wide. Because it is a wild-type we just let them sprawl, rather than tie them up. Low maintenance and easy to grow. Similar in growth habitat to Ojo de venado and Tomadose.

How to Plant: Start seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before the last frost. Plant seed 5mm (¼ inch) deep. Keep moist. When true leaves appear, transplant to a larger container if needed. Transplant outside after the danger of frost has passed/later spring.
