A baby beefsteak.

This is an excellent tasting, hardy tomato. Yucatan was first introduced to the seed trade in 2004 by the now closed seed company Eastern Native Seed Exchange (Massachusetts). Based on its name, we assume it comes from Mexico. Unfortunately, we don’t know anything more about this tomato, but still wanted to offer it because it tastes so good. Our seed came from the Seed Savers Exchange.

Plant Characteristics: Yucatan has lovely red round and scalloped/ribbed fruits ranging in size from 30g to 90g (1oz to 3oz). Excellent taste, fruity with tangy undertones. Yucatan is 3 feet tall and needs a stake, but otherwise is easy to grow and productive.

How to Plant: Start seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before the last frost. Plant seed 5mm (¼ inch) deep. Keep moist. When true leaves appear, transplant to a larger container if needed. Transplant outside after the danger of frost has passed/later spring.
