Your tomatoes need basil!
This flavourful Genovese-type basil is perfect for sprinkling on your homegrown tomatoes and for pizza, pesto, sauces and soups.
It is similar to Genovese Basil in having a sweet-peppery flavour, but Large Leaf Italian Basil’s leaves are larger and milder.
Many people are surprised to learn that basil is easy to grow from seed. And that it grows quickly.
This basil grows 18 to 24 inches tall and does well in a container. We suggest a larger container (3 to 5 gallons), because basil has deep roots, and will grow best when its roots have room to spread out.

How to Grow Basil from Seed? Ease of Germination: Easy. Start your basil outdoors when you start your other outdoor garden plants, which is at the end of May for us. Sow seeds just below the soil surface, keep soil moist until seedlings emerge. Seed will germinate in 5 to 10 days. Pinch off flowers when they appear to keep the plant producing new leaves. Or you can start indoors 4-6 weeks before the last frost.
