This lovely lacey mauve-purple flower is mesmerizing to look at, but where it really shines is as a pollinator.
Phacelia, also known as Purple Tansy and Bee’s Friend, attracts pollinators like a magnet. It is a wonderful plant to have in your flower or main garden. Plant it by your cucumbers and zucchini, for instance, to attract pollinators to these veggies.
Phacelia grows to a height of about 24 inches. It is hardy and drought tolerant and grows well in sunny or part shady areas. It is an easy flower to grow and chances are you will have enough for the pollinators and a few to spare, which is great, because they also make a beautiful cut flower.
How to Plant: Sow seeds outdoors in early spring. Sow seeds 5mm (1/4″) deep; spacing seeds 3 inches or so apart.
