Purple Patch
The ‘Purple Patch’ in our garden keeps expanding — this is where we plant our purple varieties of veggies — as we learn more about how good anthocyanins are for our health. Anthocyanins are: (1) the purple/red/blue pigments in plants that let you know the plant is also a source of this amazing plant nutrient. Anthocyanins are also (2) powerful flavonoids that help regulate cellular activity and have numerous biochemical and antioxidant effects. Our bodies benefit when we eat plants with anthocyanins.
Our ‘Purple Patch’ category includes varieties that are purple/red/blue and a source of anthocyanins. For more details about the health benefits of anthocyanins check out our Musings.
