Garden Anywhere Anyway
The thinking behind this collection — use whatever space you have to garden. Just garden it! Grow food. Grow flowers
This is a collection for new and experienced gardeners.
And a collection for gardeners with little space or more space. Don’t let a small space hold you back — all of the varieties in this collection are container friendly. Even the Zucchini. Which is a manageable compact variety that will stay even more manageable in a 5-10 gallon pot. Or if you have more space, these varieties will also thrive in the ground in your garden.
We have chosen varieties that are easy to grow and can be direct sown in spring.
Our ‘Garden Anywhere Anyway’ collection includes 6 garden classics:
- Parris Island Romaine. A classic crunchy romaine
- Super Sugar Snap. A sweet snap pea
- Dill. A fresh, aromatic culinary herb
- Black Beauty Zucchini. A compact zucchini with deep green skin and creamy white flesh.
- Crackerjack Marigolds. A wonderful pollinator. Also edible and ornamental. Check out our page on Crackerjack Marigolds for more ideas.
- Teddy Bear Dwarf Sunflower. Another wonderful pollinator that is both edible and ornamental. Think petals sprinkled in salads.
Gardening is one of the most rewarding activities you can do. And this collection is an easy way to add beauty and food to your growing space.

We will include growing instructions.
Parris Island Romaine: Direct sow early spring – lettuce loves cool weather. Lettuce seeds need light to germinate. Sow seeds on the surface of soil, press in and cover lightly with soil. Keep soil moist. Sow seeds 2” apart, then thin. Lettuce will bolt (go to seed) when the temperatures get hot.
Super Sugar Snap Peas: Direct sow early spring- peas love cool weather. Plant 1-2 “apart, do not thin. If growing in a container, use a container at least 12″ deep. Use a trellis or something for the peas to grow on.
Black Beauty Zucchini: Direct sow in late May (zucchini prefers to be direct seeded to not disturb their roots). Sow 1” deep and plant 3 seeds in each spot you would like a zucchini to grow, then thin to the strongest one. If growing in a container, use a 5-10 gallon container.
Dill: Direct sow outside in early spring. Plant seeds 1-2” apart. Keep soil moist. That’s it!
Crackerjack Marigold: Direct sow mid-May, spacing seeds a few inches apart. Marigold seeds need light to germinate. Press seeds into soil, barely cover with soil and keep moist until seedlings are up. If growing in a container, use a 5 gallon container.
Teddy Bear Sunflower: Sow in the ground or in a container (about 5 gallon size) in early spring. Sow the small seeds about ½ “ deep (sow 3 in the spot you would like then thin to the strongest) and keep moist until germination. Squirrels and birds also like sunflower seeds, so keep a watch out for little footprints or signs of digging by little hands or beaks:)
