Ancient Landraces
Mesoamerica and the Andes are the ‘primary centers of tomato diversity’ — this is where tomatoes originated and where they were domesticated thousands of years ago. We have found that many tomatoes from these areas thrive in short season gardens. This may seem surprising at first, but over centuries and centuries tomatoes in Mesoamerica and the Andes have had to adapt to a wide range of environmental conditions — and that selection process has created resilient genetics and hardy plants. When you grow these tomatoes you benefit from all of that adaptation.
