Cherry
Cherry tomatoes are a great way to get an early start on the tomato season, as they ripen earlier than larger tomatoes. And cherry tomatoes are usually a lot sweeter than larger tomatoes. They are great for snacking in the garden, tossed in salads and provide instant gourmet on veggie trays. In addition, cherry tomatoes can be a ‘water-wise’ choice. The University of California Master Gardener Program of Sonoma County (an area which experiences drought conditions) notes that cherry tomatoes are a good choice for dry conditions, because cherry tomatoes get sweeter when they are not over-irrigated.
